Current Plot
A mysterious illness ravaged the Clans, putting them on the edge of extinction. The four Clans pushed through leafbare, their populations so low that even the scarce prey of the cold season kept them well-fed.
The warriors' strength pulled them out of this living hell, but they face new challenges: With no living cat in leadership positions, how will they decide who their leaders should be? Who will train their medicine cats? Should they rebuild, or will the sickness take them again? A number of cats have given up, broken by the losses of those they loved most, and are setting out to the twolegplace to start over as kittypets; others are cursing StarClan for not helping when the Clans were most vulnerable; others still are standing tall and giving motivational speeches, showing their remaining friends and family that they are strong enough to keep going.
History
Before the plague, the Clans were at peace. The four leaders bickered, but a major battle had not been fought in moons.
ThunderClan was led by the chipper Brightstar.
RiverClan was led by the calm Graystar.
WindClan was led by the thoughtful Redstar.
ShadowClan was led by the humorous Tinystar.
Then the plague hit.
-In the first week, there were twelve deaths: 3 ThunderClan, 3 RiverClan, 2 WindClan, and 4 ShadowClan.
-The illness spread fast and, as most sicknesses do, hit the elderly and the undeveloped hardest. Grieving queens refused to eat, thus weakening their bodies and opening the door to illness.
-In the first month, Brightstar and her medicine cat died. ThunderClan's deputy was too weak to travel to the Moonstone and passed away a few days later. The medicine cat apprentice was given her full name by StarClan, and she stepped up to take the place of her mentor.
-In the second month, RiverClan's medicine cats died. WindClan's leader and deputy soon followed.
-In the third month, at the end of leaf-fall, the sickness slowed down drastically. The illness took one of Graystar's lives, leaving him on his last one.
-In the fourth month, the sickness stopped spreading. Cats who were ill isolated themselves. Starvation and freezing temperatures picked off the weakest cats in the Clans. ShadowClan's leader tried to hunt a rat, but was bitten and the combination of sickness and infection from the injury took Tinystar's last lives.
-In the fifth month, ShadowClan's medicine cat apprentice got lost in a blizzard. His body was found a week later. His mentor quit his position and left to become a kittypet. RiverClan's leader died.
-In the sixth month, many cats left their territories and went to the twolegplace, never to be seen by their Clanmates again. RiverClan's deputy, unable to travel to the Moonstone, died.
-In the seventh month, the first month of newleaf, the Clans began to pick up the pieces.
We are now in the eighth month. Snow has melted away and the sun brings promise of warmer weather. Only WindClan has named a leader: Jaystar. ThunderClan's medicine cat apprentice, Wrenflame, has taken over as the full medicine cat. No Clan has named a deputy.
This plot will carry HotF through the first few months. When characters are seated into high positions and members are settled into the roleplay, we'll see where things are politically and move on with a central plot from there.
Heart of the Forest is an AU Warriors forum set in the forest territories. SkyClan never existed and WindClan's warriors are split between Moor Runners and Tunnelers.
